FAQ

  • I forgot to tell Timmy that I stopped working and I left my desk
We are all guilty of this one but don't freak out, Timmy will ask you if you were working while you were away. Answer no and he will remove that time from your task.
  • I want to manually edit the time I spent on a task
    1. Go in your projects page (you must be logged in)
    2. Select the project containing the task you want to edit by clicking on the project name
    3. Click on the show sessions link to display all the sessions
    4. Click on the edit link beside the corresponding session (Note : you cannot manually edit a session if you are currently working on it! Write stop if it's your case)
  • I always stop and restart the same tasks and I want to do it fast
When you stop the task, write stop. When you restart it, write restart.
  • I am on MSN or AIM and sometimes Timmy is offline or is very slow

TimmyOnTime is an application based on the Jabber (XMPP) network. This network is the one used by several IM clients like Gaim, Google Talk, GMail (chat), PSY and a lot of others. However, we are aware that a lot of people are using other networks such as MSN or AIM, that's why we added support for them. The thing is, to make these contacts work, we have activated what we call "Jabber transports". The transports job is to put our MSN and AIM contacts alive (timmyontime@hotmail.com, timmyontime@aim.com) and redirect any messages sent to them back to the REAL bot, which is timmy@timmyontime.com.

As you can imagine, these 2 contacts are not as fast as timmy@timmyontime.com because they are not tied directly to the application. Moreover, we are currently using public transports that are located on other servers (that situation should change soon) so we don't have much control over them. Long story short, for top performance and stability, consider using a Jabber client like Google Talk or Gaim for now.

  • I forget to tell Timmy what I'm doing. Could he nudge me?
Yes he can. Just write set nudge and he will now nudge you when you should be working but you're not.
  • How does the tagging system works?
It is possible to add tags both to your projects and tasks to categorize them the way you want. Say for example that you want to regroup the projects and tasks that are related to a certain customer. You could tag them with the name of the said customer and then you would be able to extract this information later by logging in on the website and by clicking on the corresponding tag name. See how you can tag and untag stuff on your IM.
  • I have a comment, a suggestion, a request and/or a bug to submit to you
Just send us a mail at contact@timmyontime.com and we'll take care of it.

If you want live support, add contact@timmyontime.com to your IM contact list and ask us your questions.
